MISS MARIJKE

Miss Marijke fell in love with dance at the age of five and has since trained extensively across a wide range of styles, including classical ballet, contemporary, jazz, hip hop, tap, ballroom, character, cheerleading, pole fitness and Zumba®. Her rich training and professional performance background, combined with her genuine love of teaching, allow her to create inspiring and meaningful experiences for every student she teaches.

Marijke has performed professionally in numerous music theatre and opera productions, including Kismet (Princess Zubbediya), Grease (ChaCha), Phantom of the Opera, Joseph and his Technicolour Dreamcoat, Sweet Charity, and Calamity Jane. She has also performed with Melbourne Opera in productions such as The Merry Widow, Faust, Carmen, and The Pearlfishers. A career highlight includes performing as a featured classical dancer in the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games. Alongside performing, Marijke has choreographed productions including The Sentimental Bloke, Babirra, Hello Dolly! and ARC, and works professionally in arts administration at a prominent Australian dance institution.

Miss Marijke is a proud READY SET DANCE, READY SET BALLET and READY SET MOVE Gold Certified Educator, and is a valued leader of our READY SET programs at Jamie’s Academy of Dance. She has a special passion for introducing preschool children to the joy of dance, and feels incredibly honoured to guide them through these important early years. Marijke loves watching her young students grow in confidence, coordination and creativity, helping them feel proud of themselves while building a lifelong love of movement.

She also holds a current Level 2 First Aid and CPR certification, ensuring every child learns in a safe, nurturing and supportive environment.

Miss Marijke’s calm, caring nature and dedication to each child make her a much-loved educator and an integral part of the Jamie’s Academy of Dance family.
